Meet the Teacher!!
 Read-Turrentine Elementary will host an Open House and Parent Orientation on Wednesday August 20.

Students’ teacher and room assignments will be posted on the front doors of the school at 8:00 AM. Students must come with a parent or guardian at times according to first letter of last name (See schedule below.)

 Students will be able to bring their supplies and meet the teacher.

 Parents or guardians will also receive beginning-of-the-year paperwork  that they can fill out at their leisure and send it to their child’s teacher on the first day of school.

**Student room numbers will be posted on the front doors at 8:00 AM. Students and parents will visit the teachers’ room in the following order: 

 Last names beginning w/ A-F--8:15-8:45, G-L--9:00-9:30, M-R--9:45-10:15, and S-Z--10:30-11:00.

New Student Registration Dates



Read-Turrentine Elementary, campus for second and third grade, new students registration will be conducted August 12, 15, 18 and 19 from 8:30 AM to 11:30  and from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
  Friday, August 22rd   is the final day to register from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

 There will be no registration on August 13, 14, 20, and 21th due to staff development.

Clothing

Ø Shorts, skirts, and dresses may be no shorter than three (3) inches above the top of the kneecap.

Ø Shirts, blouses, and dresses must have sleeves.

Ø All see-through garments are prohibited.

Ø Shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, etc. may only have writing or pictures on them that are age appropriate.

Ø  Exaggerated necklines and bare midriffs are prohibited.

 

Ø  Pants and shorts must be worn at waist level and fit appropriately in the seat and waist. No underwear will be visible. Belts are optional; however, if pants do not fit properly, a belt will be required to keep pants at waist level.

Shoes

Ø Appropriate shoes must be worn at all times. No flip flops!  Backless shoes, shoes with cleats, house shoes, taps or roller blades are not permitted. Platform and high heel shoes are not permitted because of safety issues. Tennis shoes are required in P. E.

Hair

Ø Boys’ hair length is not to exceed shoulder length at the neckline.

Ø Hair styles/cuts that are distracting or take away from the dignity of the school (unnatural colors, slogans, Mohawks, spikes, insignias, words, letters or designs cut into the hair, etc.) are prohibited.

Earrings/ Nails

Ø Boys are not permitted to wear earrings or ear studs.

Ø  Girls are not permitted to wear fake nails.
